I’ve seen the footage. The only thing you really fight for is yourself.
because I’m in the mood
other than the second-to-last one, gifs 2, 3, and 4 are all direct results of Tony’s mistakes.
2: because he was so disconnected from his company that they managed to sell weapons to the very people that killed Yinsen, definitely killed the soldiers protecting him in Afghanistan, and in the process Tony almost takes out one of Rhodey’s men, because he couldn’t give his own best friend the heads up he was flying weapons-grade ordnance through American air space.
3: because Tony was so privileged and self-involved he let Obie run his own company and then sent his assistant to gather evidence, thus giving Obie leeway to get to his super-roided battlesuit. Like, I’m not blaming the guy for having PTSD and tucking away for a few months to play with his toys, but Obie having the ability to work on wearable battle tank with guns on it is something that was a problem from before the cave, c’mon.
4: Um, Tony was kicking a race driver out of his car (and this poor guy probably depends on races for his paycheck yo) and grandstanding recklessly instead of using his words and expressing human feelings to the people that care about him.
Like, I love the guy, but up until gif 5, most fights he’s in have, to some degree, their roots in Tony’s selfish foibles. It’s really not until Avengers that Tony isn’t fighting a fight, to some degree, that isn’t one of his own doing.
Steve’s not wrong in/before that moment, is what I’m saying.
